Emancipation

Emancipation

A juxtaposition of cutout acrylic paintings on canvas, mounted on plywood.

A culmination of research on plastic surgery and physical modification, where the corporeal body is turned inside out, as it morphs with carnal stories, sex toys, and mythical creatures as relatives of the body’s organs.

On un-stretched and unframed canvas, the work is a reassembly of irregularly shaped cutouts from multiple paintings to form a corporal collage that hangs like flesh or leather.

Emancipation was displayed at Central Saint Martin’s degree show as the artist’s final project,London, 2014.
